Actor Kim Soo-hyun’s team has responded to the allegations made by Gaseyeon (Garoseo Research Institute), presenting a detailed explanation in a 9-page document.
On March 13th, his agency, Gold Medalist, issued an official statement saying, “We had planned to release a statement next week based on evidence to counter Gaseyeon’s report. However, Kim Soo-hyun showed signs of emotional instability early this morning, so we decided to release the statement immediately.”
Kim Soo-hyun confirmed that he had been in a relationship with actress Kim Sae-ron from the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2020. However, he denied the claim that he was involved with Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor. “Kim Sae-ron and I started dating in the summer of 2019, but she was not a minor when we were together,” Kim Soo-hyun’s team clarified.
They also refuted Gaseyeon’s claim that a photo published on Kim Sae-ron’s Instagram story on March 24, 2024, and another shown on Gaseyeon’s broadcast on March 11, 2025, were taken in 2016. “Both photos were actually taken in the winter of 2020, and the clothes Kim Sae-ron wore were from a brand released in June 2019. Therefore, Gaseyeon’s claim that the photos were taken in 2016 is false.”
The agency also addressed Gaseyeon’s claim about letters Kim Soo-hyun sent to Kim Sae-ron during his military service. The agency clarified, “The letters Kim Soo-hyun sent were simply to close friends, but Gaseyeon distorted them into love letters.” Additionally, they pointed out that Gaseyeon’s assertion that the two had been dating since 2015 was untrue, and the photos shown by Gaseyeon were taken after Kim Sae-ron became an adult, not when she was a minor.
Kim Soo-hyun’s agency also defended his involvement in helping Kim Sae-ron with financial issues. They explained that, after her DUI incident, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency had worked with Kim Sae-ron to resolve various fines and compensation issues. “The fine from the accident was approximately 1.1 billion KRW, and we worked to reduce her financial burden, ultimately settling the remaining debt to about 700 million KRW.”
They also clarified why the agency had taken legal action concerning Kim Sae-ron’s debts. “If the company had paid her penalties arbitrarily, there was a risk of executives facing charges of breach of trust. Therefore, we followed legal advice to handle the debts appropriately.”
The agency concluded by emphasizing that they would take legal action against anyone spreading false information and harming the reputation of their artist. “We will take legal measures against the dissemination of false information and will not tolerate acts that damage our artist’s reputation.”
